1. Scope and controller

This policy covers the My First Word Library iOS app, designed for children aged 1–5, and these support pages; the provider is Emre Şahin. Contact: mre.sahinn@gmail.com. The app needs no account: there is no sign-up, login, email address or password. This text replaces the previous policy, which wrongly described the app as a book library and said it showed ads.

2. Data that stays on your device

Learned words, category progress, game and quiz results, streaks and statistics, the languages you choose, your child’s age range, an optional name you enter and reminder settings are stored only on your device; they never reach us and are not added to analytics. Depending on your settings they are included in your device backups (iCloud Backup or your computer) and are removed from the device when you delete the app. Words, audio and games ship with the app. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device; the app uses no push-notification server.

3. Microphone, speech recognition and camera

Speaking practice asks for microphone and iOS speech-recognition permission. The spoken word is recognised on the device only; the app does not use cloud recognition, and audio is never recorded or sent to any server. In languages where on-device recognition isn’t supported, the feature stays off. The camera is used for augmented reality and object recognition; images are processed instantly by a machine-learning model on the device and are never saved or sent. You can turn these permissions off in iOS Settings at any time.

4. Analytics

To understand how the app is used and improve it, we use Google’s Firebase Analytics in its version without advertising-identifier support, with ad personalisation signals turned off. Analytics records these usage events: app opens and screens viewed; onboarding start and completion with the chosen languages; categories opened and completed; games started and completed with their scores; words learned; language changes; lessons left early; streak days; the Premium screen being shown, and purchase steps and outcomes. The app language and subscription status (free or Premium) are stored as user properties. Firebase assigns an app-instance ID and receives information such as device model, iOS version, app version, language and approximate country derived from the IP address. Your child’s name, age range, voice or camera images are never added to analytics. These identifiers are not matched to a name or email address, but they are pseudonymous rather than anonymous. The app has no separate setting to turn analytics off; you can ask for analytics data to be deleted via the contact address.

5. Purchases and Adapty

Premium subscriptions are bought through Apple; Apple processes payments and your card details never reach us. We use Adapty to manage subscription status and show the purchase screen. Adapty receives an anonymous Adapty profile ID, subscription status, product and transaction information, free-trial eligibility, purchase-screen views and technical information such as device model, iOS and app version and language. Advertising-identifier (IDFA) and IP-address collection are turned off in Adapty. Purchasing and restoring are protected by a parental check.

6. Other connections; no ads or tracking

To find out whether a new version exists, the app queries Apple’s App Store lookup service; Apple receives your IP address and the app’s identifier. The app shows no ads, does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), does not track you or your child across other companies’ apps and websites, and does not sell personal data. It does not access your location, contacts, photo library or Apple Health data.

7. Purposes, service providers and retention

We process this data to provide the app’s features, unlock and verify purchases, understand which content and features work, and improve the app. Under applicable law (e.g. KVKK, GDPR) the basis is providing the service, our legitimate interest in a working and improving app, or consent where required. Apple, Google/Firebase and Adapty may process data outside your country under their own safeguards and agreements. Data on your device stays until you or the app delete it; Firebase and Adapty keep data according to their own retention settings and policies.

8. Children, your rights and changes

The app is listed on the App Store for children aged 5 and under. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children such as name, date of birth, email address or location; the optional name stays on the device. Purchases, restoring, links that leave the app and some settings are protected by a parental check. Under your applicable rights you can send access, correction, deletion and objection requests to mre.sahinn@gmail.com and complain to your data-protection authority; proportionate identity verification may be requested. As there is no account, the app has no account-deletion step: deleting the app removes the data on your device, and you can write to us to have data at Firebase and Adapty deleted. The support pages are hosted on Netlify; the website’s own privacy information is at emresahin.app/privacy. This page and its date are updated as data practices change.
